Cardano Governance Testnet Website Goes Live, Marking Major Progress

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has announced the launch of the SanchoNet testnet website. This is an exciting development for Cardano’s governance, as it marks the beginning of the Voltaire era, which focuses on governance. The testnet is based on CIP-1694, a Cardano Improvement Proposal that outlines specifications and organizational notes for on-chain governance in Cardano.

The proposal is named after the birth year of Voltaire, a famous philosopher known for his advocacy of civil liberties and freedom of thought. This is a significant step forward for Cardano as it continues to innovate and advance its governance capabilities.

Despite Recent Set Backs, Cardano Continues to Move Forward

CIP-1694 is designed to empower every member of the Cardano community to have a voice in shaping the future of the platform. SanchoNet, known as the ‘‘gateway to Cardano’s governance future,’’ provides a controlled testnet environment for the Cardano community to experience the governance features outlined in CIP-1694.

Despite Recent Set Backs, Cardano Continues to Move Forward

The SanchoNet testnet introduces revolutionary governance features to the Cardano blockchain, in line with the detailed specifications of CIP-1694. This facilitates the development and testing of the technical components and processes necessary for implementing governance actions for Cardano within CIP-1694.

Additionally, the ‘playground’ educates and involves the Cardano community in the on-chain governance activities of Voltaire that are currently in progress. However, it is important to note that SanchoNet is not an incentivized testnet, and no actual ADA rewards are given for participation.

At the beginning of the week, the Cardano Foundation announced the launch of the open beta phase for a new Cardano explorer. This beta represents the initial stage in the creation of an explorer that will cater to the needs of both blockchain-native individuals and businesses utilizing blockchain technology.

Explorers function as information guides, often used to track and verify activities related to native tokens, stake pools, smart contracts, and more within the context of blockchain. The Explorer, primarily developed using Java, aims to attract a large community of developers who are more familiar with languages such as Java.
