Dfinity and SingularityNET Join Forces to Decentralize AI on the Internet Computer

The Dfinity Foundation and SingularityNET have announced a joint initiative to integrate their blockchain platforms and create a decentralized AI infrastructure that runs on smart contracts. The partnership aims to address the challenges of centralized AI models, such as lack of transparency, accountability, and security, massively improving the crypto ecosystem.

SingularityNET is a blockchain-based marketplace that allows anyone to create, share, and monetize AI services. The platform hosts a variety of AI agents that can collaborate and exchange data through smart contracts. SingularityNET also aims to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI), which is the ability of machines to understand and perform any intellectual task that humans can.

Dfinity is a research and development firm that has created the Internet Computer, a blockchain network that can host any kind of software or service on the Internet. The Internet Computer is powered by a network of independent data centers that run a novel protocol called the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP). The ICP enables the network to scale, self-govern, and evolve over time.

The Collaboration Will Leverage the Internet Computer and the AI Marketplace

By integrating their platforms, the two companies hope to leverage the advantages of both blockchain and AI technologies. According to the announcement, the integration will allow decentralized applications (DApps) on the Internet Computer to access large language models (LLMs) and other AI tools hosted on SingularityNET. The LLMs will run within smart contracts, which will ensure their training parameters are tamper-proof and open-source.

The collaboration will also connect the grant programs of both platforms, which will provide resources and incentives for community developers to build and deploy decentralized AI solutions. The announcement stated that the initiative would “stimulate community developer engagement” and “advance the state of the art in decentralized AI”.

Ben Goertzel, the CEO of SingularityNET, said that the partnership with Dfinity is a crucial step towards making the most advanced AI systems available on decentralized networks. He said:

“Given this context, we must move rapidly toward making the most advanced AI systems on the planet available via decentralized networks, not owned or controlled by any elite group, Big Tech company or government agency.”

Dominic Williams, the founder of the Dfinity Foundation, said that the Internet Computer is designed to host the next generation of software and services, including AI. He said:

“The Internet Computer is the perfect platform for SingularityNET’s AI agents, as it provides scalability, security, and governance by default. We are excited to see how this collaboration will further our vision for a decentralized and intelligent internet.”
