How to add Ethereum PoW Token to Metamask Wallet

The Merge took place on the Ethereum Blockchain on September 15, 2022. This was a change from a Proof Of Work (PoW), consensus system to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus structure. This change was not welcomed by everyone for different reasons. Some people wanted to continue working the old way, so a group developers forked the Blockchain just a few hours after The Merge’s success. This led to the creation of a new blockchain Ethereum POW, with its native token ETHW. Let’s now see how to add it Metamask to the reference wallet for Ethereum interactions.

This article will help you if you don’t have a Metamask wallet or want to learn more about the wallet. At the time of writing, it is only possible to add Ethereum PoW using the manual method.

  1. Open your wallet and then unlock it with your password.
  2. Click on the top tab and select blockchains.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the drop-down menu and look for ” Add network“.

The following information should be entered in the boxes. Click “Save” to confirm.

    • Network name : ETHW-mainnet
    • New RPC URL : https://mainnet.ethereumpow.org
    • Chain ID: 10001
    • Currency symbol: ETHW
    • Block Explorer URL : https://mainnet.ethwscan.com

In the upper right, you can see that ETHW is successfully connected.

Ethereum PoW

You can receive ETHW for free regardless of your opinion on the Ethereum transition. All you had needed to have ETH in your wallet by September 15, 2022. If that was true, you should have received the same number ETHWs to your address.

If you’re using a physical wallet (Ledger) to verify your eligibility for the airdrop, connect it to metamask.

Follow the steps to add Ethereum PoW to Metamask and watch your tokens appear!
