On October 27, 2025, IBM announced a significant step into the digital asset space with the launch of IBM Digital Asset Haven, a new platform designed to provide financial institutions, governments, and corporations with a secure and compliant way to manage digital assets like tokenized assets and stablecoins. This comprehensive service aims to simplify the entire digital asset lifecycle, from custody and transactions to final settlement, all within a regulated framework.
A Haven for Institutional Digital Assets
IBM Digital Asset Haven is positioned as an all-in-one solution to help traditional financial players confidently enter and scale their operations in the growing digital asset economy. The platform addresses key institutional requirements by integrating critical features into a single package.
It offers full transaction lifecycle management, handling everything from automation and routing to monitoring and settlement across more than 40 different public and private blockchains. A unified governance and entitlement management framework allows institutions to configure multi-party authorization workflows, ensuring that transaction approvals align with their internal policies and compliance needs. Furthermore, the platform comes with pre-integrated services for identity verification (KYC) and financial crime prevention (AML), accelerating deployment and helping clients meet their regulatory obligations from the start.
Engineered with Institutional-Grade Security
Security is a cornerstone of the platform, leveraging IBM’s deep expertise in mission-critical infrastructure. The system is built on a foundation of holistic security and key management. It utilizes Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), specifically the IBM Crypto Express 8S, which are embedded in IBM Z and LinuxONE systems, to safeguard cryptographic keys. To eliminate single points of failure, the platform supports Multi-Party Computation (MPC), a technique that splits transaction signing authority among several parties so that no single person can move funds unilaterally.
For an additional layer of protection, the platform also integrates the IBM Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO) for secured cold storage operations, which is increasingly required by regulators in various jurisdictions. Looking to the future, IBM is already providing guidance on implementing quantum-safe cryptography, helping institutions prepare their digital asset security for the era of quantum computing.

Market Entry and Availability
Developed in collaboration with the digital asset custody specialist Dfns, the platform is designed to meet the complex performance and security demands of global finance. IBM Digital Asset Haven is expected to become available as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a hybrid SaaS model leveraging LinuxONE and IBM Z. An on-premises version is planned for the second quarter of 2026.
This launch provides the institutional market with a tested pathway to engage with the digital asset economy, focusing on the security and governance these players require. The coming quarters will reveal the extent to which regulated banks and corporations are ready to move tokenized assets onto this new platform.
