Mozilla Inc., the parent company of Firefox, a free and open-source web browser, announced that it has fully purchased Active Replica, a software development firm based in Canada, as part of its efforts to invest in the Metaverse.
The Mozilla Hubs is a Virtual Reality (VR) chatroom designed for any reality headset and browser, but it is also an open-source project that investigates how communication in mixed reality might be realized.
According to Mozilla, the acquisition will help the hubs to improve their onboarding procedures, add new interactive features to the hubs engine, and speed up some of the hubs’ most essential, in-demand tasks, such as more tailored subscription tiers.
In return, Active Replica will benefit from Mozilla hubs by leveraging Mozilla’s skill, size, and market availability.
Jacob Ervin, Active Replica’s Co-Founder and CEO, confirmed the announcement on the company’s website. He stated that by cooperating with the Mozilla hubs team, Active Replica will be able to expand its mission and encourage emerging innovators, connections, and builders.
Ervin further stated that the acquisition will not prevent Active Replica from working with its current clients, partners, and community while thanking its investors for sticking with the company for the last three years.
Mozilla also announced the complete acquisition of Pulse, a machine learning development team, demonstrating Mozilla’s commitment to expanding the digital ecosystem.
The Metaverse Experience
Elrond, a blockchain technology developer, announced the start of a new chapter as it transforms into a Metaverse firm called MultiversX.
With this new transition, the blockchain platform intends to investigate metaverse development, the Web3 environment, and blockchain. The news was made at Elrond’s X-Day event in Paris, which ran from November 3rd to November 5th.
Shytoshi Kusama, well recognized as the inventor and community leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem and the SHIB cryptocurrency, gave a statement that the World Economic Forum (WEF) has submitted a proposal to his team regarding global policy discussions for the Metaverse.
Kusama previously stated that significant blockchain industry titans such as Sandbox, Facebook, and Decentraland, among others, will collaborate with WEF.
While some digital firms are seeking to expand their reach in the Metaverse, a quarter 3 report from Meta revealed that its Metaverse arm recorded a loss of $3.7 billion in quarter 3 while it made a total income of just $285 million.
