Zama Raises $73 Million to Advance End-to-End Cryptography

TL;DR

  • Zama raises $73 million to power end-to-end crypto.
  • Zama encryption technology revolutionizes data privacy on the Internet.
  • Zama’s ambitious plan: encrypt the entire Internet with its innovative technology.

Zama, a French crypto startup, has achieved a significant milestone in its mission to make the Internet completely end-to-end encrypted.

Through its Full Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) technology, the company has raised $73 million in a Series A funding round, making it one of the largest investments in French history.

This round was co-led by Multicoin Capital and Protocol Labs, with the participation of prominent pioneers in the blockchain and artificial intelligence industry.

Founded four years ago, Zama was dedicated to making FHE, known as the “holy grail” of cryptography, accessible.

In its early days, FHE was more theoretical than practical, but thanks to the tireless efforts of its team, Zama has managed to make it accessible to non-crypto developers.

Zama Raises $73 Million to Advance End-to-End Cryptography.

Today, the company offers a wide range of open source FHE libraries and solutions, allowing any developer, from individuals to large enterprises, to implement end-to-end encryption in their applications without requiring deep cryptographic knowledge.

One of Zama notable achievements is its focus on improving FHE performance

Since its founding, the company has improved the speed of its FHE scheme by a factor of 20x, with the expectation of achieving a 100x improvement in the near future.

This performance milestone has unlocked critical use cases in blockchain and AI.

Among Zama’s most notable projects is fhEVM, a confidential smart contract solution that allows developers to create confidential applications on the blockchain.

Several projects, such as Fhenix, Shiba Inu and Inco, have already integrated fhEVM into their systems to improve the privacy and confidentiality of their applications.

Looking ahead, Zama has ambitious plans to expand the use of FHE, including its application in the cloud and, ultimately, making the entire Internet fully encrypted.

The goal is to make FHE easy to use and fast, enabling the creation of secure and private applications in a wide range of industries.

Zama is leading the way towards a fully encrypted Internet, providing innovative solutions in cryptography that have the potential to transform the way we interact online and protect our digital privacy.
